Renaming the National International Airport to Manila International Airport (MIA) is not a priority for President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
“I haven’t actually thought about it,” Marcos Jr. told actress-host Toni Gonzaga in an interview.
The President, however, claimed that MIA is the name that people around the world are more familiar with.
“Well, we are known around the world as MIA, Manila International Airport,” according to him.
When pressed if he favors the proposal to rename NAIA, Marcos Jr. said that he has “no strong feelings about it.”
“If people want to rename the airport and if we get public support for it then yes go ahead. It’s really not a [priority],” he added.
