MalacaƱang has announced the extension of the nationwide state of calamity due to Covid-19 for another three months.
The nationwide state of calamity is set to lapse today, September 12.
“The state of calamity is extended for possibly three months but only for the purpose of preserving the benefits under it such as but not limited to the indemnification, emergency procurement, [and] special risk allowance for healthcare workers,” Press Secretary Trixie Cruz-Angeles said in a news briefing Monday.
“We will transition out of the state of calamity after further review,” added Cruz-Angeles
In March 2020, then President Rodrigo Duterte declared a state of calamity in the country because to Covid-19.
It was only supposed to last until September of that year but was extended twice.
